BREAKING NEWS: I can be wrong sometimes...

Me: Hello. My name is Tyese Resurrected and...and...I can be wrong sometimes.

The Crowd: [sing-song] Hellooooo Tyese.

Okay, I can admit it. I can be wrong sometimes. Sometimes new information comes along and busts up my theology. I went IN on Tyler Perry a couple of posts ago. Ya know...I was sick of the drag. I was sick of the same story line. So on and so forth. Anyhow.... One of my good friends challenged why I was so AGAINST Tyler Perry but not against Martin (Martin was playing in the background and I was watching him with glee.) I said, "Well, my issue with TP is...well, his market is the Church. Martin's market is not the Church." Hmmm... Her question made me wonder & it got the wheels a-turning in this great dome of mine. My friend proceeded to retell of TP's interview on Oprah's show. She explained how he described his turbulent and abusive relationship with his father. She also explained how no one was there to help him but his aunt. His aunt was his saving grace. And, as an ode to his aunt, who was a picture of strength & protection, he created the Madea character.

Okay, guys the aforementioned tale of woes poked holes in my sturdy little stance against Mr. Perry. My sensitive little heart began to ache for what he had experienced. BUT, I WAS TORN. [Internal dialogue: No, Tyese, you will NOT backtrack. You are 100% AGAINST Mr. Perry.] Needless to say, I've backtracked. Okay, here goes: Although, I am staunchly against some things he promotes, I understand that we are all in different walks with the Lord. I do not know what his quiet conversations are like when he talks to the Lord. I will pull back. However, I need to note that I am ready for Tyler to create more roles for HIMSELF. Let Madea and her non-conventional ways rest. I loved seeing him as the forlorn husband in Why Did I Get Married 1 and 2. I loved his role (and afro...teehee) in The Family That Preys. I HATED PRECIOUS. But, other than that (PRECIOUS) TP entertains me. And, I learn a little no matter how off of the Word he may be. So, this humble little girl from the small county of (sing w/ me) DUUUUUUUU-VALLLLLLLLL retracts some of her disdain for TP and will resolve to pray for him as often as I remember.

-Chagrin?
